2018-2019 Medical Ethics in Physical Therapy

This course is designed to instruct the physical therapist and physical therapist assistant in basic ethical theories and approaches to ethical decision making using the APTA Code of Ethics, APTA Code for Professional Conduct, and Standards of Ethical Conduct for the Physical Therapist Assistant as guidelines. The participant will use these regulations and ethical decision making tools to resolve issues of ethics in physical therapy.

Valerie Strunk, PT, DPT
Valerie Strunk is the Director of Clinical Education and Associate Clinical Professor in the Indiana University Physical Therapy Department, where, among other courses, she teaches Ethical and Legal Aspects of PT Practice. She has been a member of the APTA since 1996, and has served on the Ethics Committee of the Indiana Chapter since 2007. She is also a current member of the Indiana Chapter Practice Committee, and has served in various other Chapter leadership roles throughout the years.
