Anxiety, Clinical Education, Emotional Resilence
This presentation introduces the participant to the concept of emotional resilience, but primarily focuses on the anxious DPT student's learning in the clinical setting. There is an explanation of potential solutions from the perspective of the student, mental health counselor and clinical faculty.
Upon completion of the course, the attendee will be able to:
- Demonstrate appreciation for the need to address student mental health issues, in particular anxiety.
- Explain common behaviors exhibited by a student with anxiety.
- Explain potential solutions to deal with the anxious situation, as recommended by the mental health counselor.
- Develop skill with providing a supportive approach to mentoring students during clinical education.
